Carnival Parade

The blustery weather just added to the fun with masks and wigs flying here and there!

We always seem to have to battle with the elements on carnival day.

The theme this year was ‘Going Global’ and so we entered a walking float entitled ‘Global Grand Slam Greats’.

We carefully manoeuvred ourselves behind a vibrant samba band and our juniors entertained the masses with their tennis skills.

Our juniors were Rosie de Leon, Lucy, Sam and Ed Fitzgerald, Tau Mutendera, Ruby and Gabie Christmas

David Miller made an excellent Borg, with Gabie Christmas as a pretty convincing John McEnroe. Gay’s Serena was a triumph as well as Jane H’s angry Nadal. These were just a few of the many tennis greats parading for us and sporting our logo around Swanage.

Not only did we have a great time – we were rewarded with a 2nd Place rosette and certificate which are now proudly displayed in the club house!

Thank you to Gay, Pat, Alison, Leonora, Kate M, Pearce, Deborah, David, Jane H and Kate F for joining in and managing to walk through the streets of Swanage wearing masks with very small eye holes without any major incident!

Pictures to follow soon!
