Ladies 1 triumph at home over St Leonards 3

On a rainy morning – touch and go in terms of the possibility of playing a match, St Leonards travelled to Swanage to meet the Ladies 1 team.

After a defeat the previous week at Hale Gardens, our ladies were determined to gain a better result on home turf.

Georgina and Sam took on the St Leonards first pair who consisted on a bright young talent and a consistent partner. The games were close and the set was decided by a tie-break which the Swanage pair managed to win.

Sam and Georgina continued to play consistent tennis and went ahead to win the rubber.

Meanwhile on court 2, Diana and Sue were up against a very mixed pairing. One very strong and competent player was making life quick tricky for the Swanage duo. That and the fact that the play was sometimes very aggressive made for a lot of ducking and diving!

Swanage’s experience paid off in the end and Diana and Sue managed a tight victory.

The morning continued to go in Swanage’s favour as Sam and Georgina had a good game but convincing win over the second pair. Despite a long struggle of a match, Di and Sue came away defeated in their second rubber.

But our ladies had done enough to claim a 3:1 much needed victory!
